“It’s time to put on your shorts”
...Rutger Hauer challenges filmmakers around the world to show him ''things never seen before''.

The Entry Form submission window closed on May 7, 2009. We would like to thank all the authors, who have so enthusiastically accepted the challenge from more than 90 countries. Your response has been extraordinary!
The filmmakers who were not able to submit their works this year, will be in a position to participate in the 2010 I've Seen Films edition, that will also include a section dedicated to feature films. The Entry Call will be available starting from October 2009.

Rutger Hauer will personally award the winners during the Award evening gala, which promises to be a real tribute for the short film authors and Festival’s guests.

*********

I’VE SEEN FILMS was founded by Rutger with the aim of promoting and uniting filmmakers, offering them new exposure and fresh and innovative platforms of visibility, where filmmakers are able to face each other on the common ground of the film language.

The 2009 edition will take place in Milano (Italy) from September 24 to October 3 at Gnomo Milano Cinema, Centre Culturel Français and THECA venues, while the Internet Contest will be launched at the beginning of June.

Ridley Scott, Lech Majewski, Robert Rodriguez, Miranda Richardson, Anton Corbijn, Christopher Nolan, Eugenio Cappuccio, Teresa Cavina, Bill Bristow, Daniela Catelli, Jeremy Eynon, Roberto Nepoti and Rutger Hauer are members of the International Jury.

This 2009 Festival edition, in addition to the main film categories, has a special section dedicated to Social Awareness. Filmmakers are invited to send works on this subject, which includes thorny issues such as AIDS, racism, unemployment, homelessness, censorships, environmental protection, human rights, and so on.

The I'VE SEEN FILMS participants are also in a position to choose to have extended exposure to their works by participating in the Internet Contest event which is set up with the technical know-how and expertise of CortoWeb.
CortoWeb, founded in the year 2000, is Europe’s largest platform for the internet streaming of auteur short films, and it offers a unique and extremely wide selection of artistic works.

In addition, by linking I'VE SEEN FILMS to the successful initiative of the Rutger Hauer Film Factory (which is transmitting a legacy of enormous film knowledge passed on by Rutger Hauer and his peers and talented film professionals) this new-concept platform creates a new opportunity for filmmakers and offers the largest possible artistic choice to audiences all over the world.

I'VE SEEN FILMS, thanks to its original and innovative formula, has some unique components which make it stand out as an unparalleled cultural event.

It is one of the few film festivals in the world that has been founded and is directly managed by an international artist. Its main purpose is the promotion on a world-wide basis, thanks also to the internet streaming medium, of the works of filmmakers who deserve exposure and visibility for their works but rarely achieve this from the classic-formula film festivals.

This is the first festival in which a short film competition is judged by an International Jury formed by so many notable artistic talents and experts of the film sector. It marks a turning point in this field.

The Festival's official language is English, which allows films authors and international attendees alike to overcome the obstacle represented by multi-ethnic language barriers.

During the 2008 edition, the authors’ works were screened, for the first time ever during any short film festival, in a masterfully high-definition digitalized version. This is an important aspect that is quite uncommon in other film festivals since it requires highly professional technical knowledge. This format garnered enthusiastic praises from audience and film authors alike.

The impressive Gala Award Evening, in which Rutger Hauer personally awards the winners, represents a very special moment for the authors who, together with their works, become the Festival’s real protagonists.

This new formula represents a merger of the best classic film festival traditions with the most advanced high-definition digital and internet streaming technologies.

This has been a crucial challenge, proudly achieved since the very first edition.
