Dear Friendz, Fanz, and Browzerz!
WELCOME TO PIXELVILLE
YOU CAN. YOU WILL. THERE'S ONLY ONE.
The web site finally made it. Thank you for an overwhelming friendly reception in cyberspace. And thank you for your support. I'm excited to be able to talk to you this way and speak my mind withouth having you receive your information from some misinformed, disingenuous journalist.
FIRST. It is my intention to present a monthly update. Because I travel so much through different time zones, time differences, different wallplug designs and a wild variety of service providers make it troublesome to get online. And before you know it the laptop turns into another black hole. Of course you know it. I'll improve. I'll make it work.
SECOND. You can dump ideas into my guestbook. Feel free. I will hardly be able to give you my reactions but I will read them. And I appreciate your input. But there's just not enough time.
THIRD. I'll keep some of the visuals going - like photographs etc. - as time goes by. Past, present, future. Nothing like growing older as we speak (or younger) on the NET.
FOURTH. I will write a "workinprogress" book called "SHORT CUTS", dealing with things I think might be personal and entertaining. From experience. And from my point of view which, like anybody elses, is still limited.
I'LL START WITH A SMALL UPDATE FOR YOU NOW
LONDON. Now and until half September I'm working on a miniseries called "THE TENTH KINGDOM". Directed by Herbert Wise. It takes me to Great Britain, France, Germany, and Austria.
For the time being I've made a stop in-between to do some looping for a film I did in UTAH spring '99 called PARTNERS IN CRIME. It was directed by Jennifer Warren with whom I worked before on THE BEANS OF EGYPT MAINE, later renamed FORBIDDEN CHOICES (Oh my God what a terrible title).
When I finish here I'll start driving down to the Alsace in France where I will continue to work on "KINGDOM", which is a wild bunch of fairytales rolled up in several hours of television and made for NBC. Tricks, hairdo's, costume, special effects, love, mystery, good, bad, heroics, and uglysome.
I'll mention two other films which I did in the last year and a half. A film called NEW WORLD DISORDER. It was shot in Luxembourg about a year ago and should be ready by now but I don't hear a thing, which might be bad news. I'll update when I hear more.
SIMON MAGUS. Also shot last spring in Wales. Directed by Ben Hopkins who also wrote it. It went to the Berlin Filmfest this year. I was sorry not being able to attend. About this one I can tell you to go see it when you get a chance. I think it's very interesting and good. A thinking man's film. Poetic. Good stuff. They are trying to get distribution. I'll tell more when it happens.
Until later and with more,
