Plot:
Eric Desmond and his girlfriend, Anne Marie, came to Alaska for Eric’s job, monitoring the environmental impact of the pipeline for an oil company.
When they stumble on a party of trappers, poaching on pipeline property, the potential fight with Ben Corbett and his partners ends in a standoff. Eric and Anne Marie leave but a party of boorish trophy hunters is not so lucky. Their meeting with the trappers ends in death. The Marshall, Sam Wilder asks Eric to help him arrest Ben Corbett. Soon Wilder, too, is dead and Eric is faced with a tough choice – let Corbett go or fly him to Fairbanks and turn him in. Eric’s decision leads to a frightening trek through the Endicott Mountains, and his urban, idealised vision of wilderness is challenged by Corbett and by the harsh reality of Alaska itself.
