Plot:
This version follows exactly G.B. Shaw's play.
It's the real story of this French, young, strong, non-conformist woman who didn't even get any formal education (her parents were peasants) but who with her determination led France into battle and defeated the English. She won a crown for Charles VII and then was accused of being a witch, underwent a trial and was condemned to the stake.
She was being guided into her mission of getting France free from the English by the voices she heard of Saint Catherine and Margaret. Apparently she had strange powers - when Dunois asked her to pray for a west wind, it really happened.
She showed she could work miracles, such as having hens not laying eggs and cows not milking when The Dauphin refused to meet her.
She was burnt when she wasn't still twenty and then, after her death, made a saint.
Her nickname was "The Maid of Orleans".
