About Magazine Metal Hurlant
It is a science fiction comic book created in 1974 by authors and drawers Dionnet, Druillet and Moebius and published by Les Humanoïdes Associés. Right from the first issue, Métal Hurlant distinguishes itself from the other existing comic books by its audacious content, so much by its graphics than its scenarii. The comic standards are changed : comics now revolve around space, violence, sex, but also poetry. An American version was created, too: some Heavy Metal readers will become famous science fiction movie directors : George Lucas, Ridley Scott, Georges Miller. Authors such as Moebius, Corben, Jodowrosky cooperate on their movies, giving birth to great features such as Alien, Tron, Willow. In the 80’s, under the influence of Philippe Manoeuvre, the magazine gains a funky spirit directly inspired from the music scene. Metal Hurlant then becomes a lifestyle magazine of a whole generation. Metal Hurlant Chronicles TV series continues in that way.
