Plot:
A priest comes into contact with a very diverse group of clandestine immigrants who go ashore on a southern Italy coast.

Their lives become intertwined with those of the local population, in a mutual search of forgiveness, religion and solidarity.

Notes:
'The Cardboard Village' is a multi-language immigration drama. All throughout the year, overloaded ships arrive on Italy's shores carrying immigrants, the so-called 'boat people', in large part black Africans.

The boats bringing the unwanted immigrants to Italy are chartered and manned by traffickers who are the real criminals, dealing with organized crime and financially exploiting the desperation of Africa's poor people.
