Drops of Rain and You
© by Andrea Fuerst
Drops of rain slide down
the clothesline wire and
fog crawls in around the trees.
A patchwork of rubies and gold
woven with emeralds and velvet
quilts the mountainside.
Like the trees on the mountain,
my memories are decorated with
delicate, lacy webs.
It all makes me think of you--
both unique and beautiful,
adding color to an otherwise naked life.
Cool and damp from the morning dew
cover my face, waking me from this spell.
Drops of rain are still sliding down
the clothesline wire....
And I'm still thinking of you.
