A Bad Poem for Easter (Or Anytime)
by Saragale Borri Tucker
I learned to write bad poems a while ago-
if you really care about poetry the way I do,
you can intimidate the heck out of yourself
and get as constipated with ideas and sounds as you could with cheese.
Words are the prunes I need and they work best for me in the form of poetry
not necessarily the poetry that observes and gives us pieces
so that we may put the ideas together for ourselves
not necessarily the elevated poetry of transformation
or the many kinds of poetry that beguile with words, sounds, and thoughts
no
just a little whiny bad poem can get things going again.
Heymaybe I'll never write good poetry,
but at least I'll keep the underlying process going!
