Another Poem
© by Isabelle van Straks

Are your lips as red as a begonia
That I saw hanging on a balcony
Is the blue of the sea near Jamaica
The color of your eyes so lovely

Beauty comes to an end by aging
Like a flower she fades away
But this will not stop my engaging
At the altar I should wait and stay

My love for you will not disappear
In the morning when I open my eyes
You are the first thought that appears
My affection for you will only rise
