Take a Walk on the Wild Side
© by Sue Kugler

Walk on the wild side
Now, I don't mean
Stick your thumb out and hitch a ride
I mean be yourself
Even if that means dressing like an elf

Or put some pink in your hair
Blue, too
What others think you don't care
Get out there
You don't live in a zoo

Walk on the wild side
Don't hide
Don't be a conformist
Don't be one of the normalest

And I might add
Start a new fad
Don't be afraid
To put your hair in a lot of braids

Be you
Second best won't do
This isn't a contest
But I must confess

If you let your originality come out
One day, you might turn about
And find others, too
Do what you do
