Hauer Autographed Unique Original 'Mysteries' Clapperboard + Bonus Photo!
Description:
Here we have a SUPER special item relevant to 'Mysteries'!
'Mysteries' was directed in 1978 by Paul de Lussanet and Rutger played the main role of Johan Frederick Nagel. Other cast members were Sylvia Kristel, David Rappaport, Rita Tushingham, Peter Faber, Andrea Ferreol, etc.
The film (shot on the Isle of Man) was based on the the book by the Norwegian Nobel Literature Prize winner Knut Hamsun (1859-1952).

This unique item is the original clapper board (or clapboard slate) used on the set of 'Mysteries'!
It's a special item also for its peculiarity: nowadays it is very difficult to find original wooden clapper boards, which are considered film collector items.
The clapperboard or clapboard slate is the combination of the chalkboard slate that held information identifying the next scene, and the clapstick which was used to align sound and film. In the early days of film, one person would hold a slate for the camera with the scene information, while another clapped two hinged sticks together in front of the camera. The combination of the two into one unit made it much easier for just one person to handle both jobs.
Traditional clapperboards (like this 'Mysteries' one) used to consist of a wooden slate and a hinged clapstick attached to the top of the slate. Modern clapperboards now generally use a pair of wooden sticks atop whiteboard or translucent acrylic glass slates which do not require additional lighting from the camera side to be legible. Some versions are also backlit.

'Mysteries' Clapperboard reserve side
This wooden clapper board measures 15" x 13.5" (38 cms x 34 cms), it includes some film details such as includes the date, the production title, the name of the director, the name of the cameraman, the scene information, etc.
Rutger has applied his autograph on the clapper board upper part, in black permanent ink.
Above you can also see a photo of its reverse side.

As a bonus, there is also a black and white close-up photo portraying Rutger in his Johan Frederick Nagel role. This photo (printed on HP superior fade-resistance photographic paper) measures 11.5" x 8" (29.5 cms x 20 cms) and Rutger has autographed it in black permanent ink.
A UNIQUE item for sure!
