MONKEYBIZ HIV WELLNESS CLINIC

Our Association, thanks to the precious help of our supporters and sponsors, has started another supporting campaign in South Africa.

With this project we are helping the South-African non-profit organization 'Monkeybiz' to produce and publish the 'sequel' of a Book they published in 2006.
The book was a huge success in terms of funds being raised to support South African HIV+ communities there.
Consequently, Monkeybiz has been compelled to release a second Book.

For this new Book project, as before, all profits will be used for the cost of operating the Monkeybiz HIV Wellness Clinic.

The previous book edition, called 'Positively HIV', was a spectacular visual and education book about HIV/AIDS and was produced with the financial backing of the Norwegian Goverment in cooperation with other international agencies.

This year, Rutger's Starfish Association has decided to contribute to this project by sponsoring the Graphic Design and Photography of this brand new Book.

The title is 'Bead by Bead', and it serves as an exceptional vehicle for gathering funds as well as making people aware of how sustainability can be the key to allow poor HIV+ people get out of their heavily burdened financial situations.

Monkeybiz supplies richly coloured glass beads to women in the townships of Cape Town. The 450 women involved in the project are producing exquisite hand beaded artworks - each a unique one-of-a-kind creation. The women are paid for each piece they produce; and since they work from home, they are able to look after their families and avoid expensive transport costs.

Therefore, by creating beautiful art pieces, the women have found a sustainable way to support themselves and their families.
